As Founder and CEO of CHAMPIONS, Inc., Sháneen Babe Jackson met Pastor Fred Newkirk of Inner City Ministries when she first attended his camp program as a camper in 1988. Her uncle, Willie Veasley, Sr., decided to take her with him that summer. Pastor Fred Newkirk saw leadership qualities in her right away and immediately asked her to be a Camp Counselor. She returned the follow years as a Camp Counselor and 5 years later was assigned as his assistant and Program Director over his Quaker Meadow Camp Project.
For 25-years, Babe served as Pastor Fred Newkirk’s Administrator. Through her is where the CORE 5 was cultivated, full musical productions during Chapel time, and follow-up events like picnics, and Annual Christmas Banquets in hotel ballrooms began.
Babe now has over thirty years of experience in the camp industry, and fifteen years in the childcare industry and educational system. However, cultivating an outstanding team to launch Campin’ with CHAMPIONS, a camping retreat for youth and adults, took priority over everything, because reaching and impacting our youth one camp at a time is her calling.
Babe’s love for our youth has lead her to start a couple of businesses where our community can experience her expertise in childcare at Tiny Babe’s Playhouse Child Care which follows rigorous lesson plans, guaranteed to place our children between the ages of two and five, three to five grade levels ahead, and Tiny Babe’s Preparatory Academy, (which is in the planning process to open in the future), a private school that will authentically challenge our youth to be the best they can be, by proudly standing as a community of scholars and global leaders.
