CDC’S OVERNIGHT CAMPING PROTOCOL
We here at Champions are committed to providing high levels of safety and disinfection during the COVID-19 pandemic while monitoring guidelines from the American Camp Association, the California State Department of Health, and the CDC. Although we cannot create a completely sterile environment our counselors and camp staff are well prepared so that all who visit will remain as safe as possible.
We receive and implement ongoing training on COVID-19 and disinfection protocols, self-screen for COVID-19 daily, not attend work if ill, adhere to frequent hand washing or utilize hand sanitizer, wear masks when inside, social distance while outside, report COVID-19 cases and notify guests of confirmed cases.
WHAT TO DO
Please begin to quarantine 14 days before departure day, only going out for essentials. This means, all your in-store shopping should be completed before you begin your quarantine process. CDC’s overnight camping regulations states that our first bubble begins at home prior to leaving for camp. Next, 3 days before camp we all must receive negative COVID-19 test results taken by a medical facility. No pre-taken home test results will be accepted. Any test results dated too early will not be accepted so please plan accordingly. All test should be dated August 4, 5 or 6, 2022. It is also very important for you to print out your results and bring them with you when you check in upon arriving. The results will be placed in your child’s file. Rapid Antigen COVID-19 test will be given to any adult or child camper upon arrival if you do not bring your printed results. Bring a mask to wear while inside any buildings. Champions will provide extra masks on-site as needed. Allow screening for elevated temperature via an electronic non-contact thermometer prior to boarding our buses or entering the camp facilities. Wash hands frequently while at camp. Utilize hand sanitizer when soap and water are not available. Notify us of confirmed cases of COVID-19 at camp.
WE ASK OUR GUESTS TO:
Each camper will be screened as he or she arrives at camp. We ask that only one parent check their camper in. Parents will not go beyond the check-in area. Parents will meet one or more of our camp counselors at the check-in area. Campers will be assigned to groups with a camp counselor and 5-20 kids.
We will limit the mixing of cohorts. The counselors will lead all the activities for their cohort of campers except for activities that require certification such as lifeguarding/paintball or archery. Campers and staff will distance from staff who are not assigned to their cabin and wear masks when distancing are not possible, even outside. When eating, tables will be distanced, and masks are worn except when eating or drinking. Campers and staff will be asked to wash hands and or sanitize frequently. If campers or staff exhibit symptoms, they will be quarantined and sent home.
We will contact all those who were in contact with that person and send a message to parents. If there is a confirmed case of COVID-19 at camp, all exposed individuals will be contacted. Buildings, including cabins, will be sanitized daily and deep cleaned between sessions.
To assure all campers and their families that we are limiting the mixing of groups at camp and the in and out of camp by staff and campers, we are complying to CDC’S overnight camping policy. Once a camper checks in at camp, they can check out at any point with parents’ permission during the camp session but may NOT return to that session.
Camp facilities have been modified to help reduce the spread of COVID-19. HVAC systems have been updated, including cabins. Countertop surfaces are anti-microbial, solid-surface materials that will help prevent the spread of COVID-19. All the upgrades meet or exceed suggested guidelines from the American Camp Association, CDC, and the local Board of Health, to operate safely.
